The Day After the web black out as a strike against SOPA

The Justice Department has indicted seven individuals and two companies behind the popular file-sharing website megaupload.com, which has been touted by stars will.i.am, Kim Kardashian and Diddy, and, according to reports, has hip-hop producer Swizz Beats as its CEO.

The indictment alleged that megaupload.com and a shell company associated with the website, Vestor Limited, caused an estimated half-billion dollars in copyright losses and made an estimated $175 million in proceeds. The website was established in 2005 and at one point ranked as the 13th most-visited website on the Internet.

An hour after the indictment was announced, the Justice Department’s website, www.justice.gov, came under cyberattack. Anonymous, the hacktivist computer group, claimed responsibility.

Apple canceled first-day sales iPhone 4s in China .

“The demand for iPhone 4S has been incredible, and our stores in China have already sold out,” an Apple spokesperson says.

Unfortunately, due to the large crowd, the store at Sanlitun was unable to open.

For the time being, iPhone will not available in retail stores in Beijing and Shanghai .

A NEW HOME PAGE FOR GOOGLE

‘Constant revision and improvement is part of our overarching philosophy.’ That’s what a google spokesman said .

« We’re now ready for the next stage of our redesign – a new Google bar that will enable you to navigate quickly between our services, as well as share the right stuff with the right people easily on Google+. »

 

The latest version of the homepage is currently not available for every user

Gone is the black bar at the top of the page, which allowed one-click access to services such as Google Images and Google News.

The black bar , which allowed access to Google Images and News , has been replaced by a grey Google logo in the top left-hand-side of the page, which gives access to a drop-down menu when clicked or highlighted, revealing seven more of the search engine’s services, including its Facebook rival, Google+, right at the top.

A ‘More’ button at the bottom of the menu unveils another eight services such as Calendar and Translate, while an ‘Even more’ button reveals, unsurprisingly, even more Google services.
